The LED based high efficiency 3 watt solar lanterns that MIC Electronics built in partnership with TERI for its Lighting A Billion Lives (LaBL) program were endorsed by the luminaries attending the Indo-US Energy Partnership Summit hosted by TERI and Yale University. The participants at the summit included Honorable Al Gore, 45th Vice President of United States, Honorable Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, India, Honorable Steven Chu, Secretary, United States Department of Energy, Honorable Jairam Ramesh, Minister of State for Environment and Forests, India, Richard Levin, President of Yale University, Dr. R K Pachauri, Director General, The Energy and Resources Institute and others

Mr. Sagar Anisingaraju, Mr. Venkata Ram Atluri, Directors of MIC Electronics and Mr. KV Prasad, Sr.Vice President represented MIC at the energy summit.Describing the value of MIC LED lanterns, Venkata Ram Atluri said "we are glad to be part of this exciting program. Each of our lanterns in their life span will replace 500 to 600 liters of Kerosene, thus mitigating about 1.5 tons of Carbon Dioxide emissions". Dr. Pachauri, Director General, TERI commented "..this is an example of public private partnerships. Our goal is to light a billion lives using such game changing and innovative technologies".
